Caravan

Leader: Sandy Henderson

CARAVAN meets on Wednesday (September - May) at 6:30pm

Caravan is a scouting—or kids' club—type of program for children in Pre-Kindergarten through sixth grade. Classes typically meet once a week throughout the school year.  Caravan uses an active, hands-on learning approach to help children grow physically, socially, mentally, and spiritually. Caravan focuses on teaching everyday skills with a distinctly Christian focus. Children become members of one of the (4) four major group based on their age -

Benson's Buddies (Pre-K and Kindergarten)

Searchers (first and second graders),

Explorers (third and fourth graders),

Adventurers (fifth and sixth graders). Each group is under the direction of one or more adult guides.

Benson's Buddies is a Biblically-based, early education curriculum that presents Christian moral standards to young children. As a part of Caravan, its focus is to develop the whole child--spiritually, mentally, physically, and socially. It emphasizes Christian character and lifestyle through Bible and contemporary stories, experience-oriented activities, and scripture memorization.

Searchers learn about the basic beliefs of the church.  Also Searchers can earn up to 15 scouting badges a year which they may display on their Caravan scarf!  If a Searcher earns all of their requirements for two years, they receive the Bunker badge.

Explorers learn Articles of Faith 1-8 of the Church of the Nazarene and four of the Core Values in the Christian Life: holiness; evangelism, missions, and character.  Also Explorers can earn up to (8) eight badges a year which they may display on their Caravan sash.  If an Explorer earns all of their requirements for two years, they receive the Winans badge.

Adventurers learn Articles of Faith 9-16 and four of the Core Values in the Christian Life: service, compassion, education, work.  Also Adventurers can earn up to (8) eight badges a year which they may display on their Caravan sash.  If an Adventurer earns all of their requirements for two years, they receive the Lillenas badge.  If an Adventurer earns all of the requirements for not only the two years as an Adventurer, but also the two years as an Explorer, they earn the Bresee Award.
